The Holocaust Engine

The Holocaust Engine by David Rike and Stephen Patrick

Local Author event at Half Price Books Flagship – After Action Report

Amazing day with Stephen Patrick and David Rike at the Half Price Books flagship in Dallas, courtesy of the Half Price Books. It’s still a bucket list item to be invited to our hometown bookseller (more than a few of our stories were inspired from pieces we found there). We had our best single day of sales as well as dozens of chats about our series, our writing, and our next projects. We also sold my favorite “survive” bookcharm, courtesy of the bookmark collection of poppingcharmsjewelry.

As promised, “Genre Fight” returned for round 3 and picked up dozens of new stars, with Horror closing ground on Fantasy (maybe thanks to Halloween).

We were blessed to share the time and space with Jenna Hartley, who was gracious enough to tell us about her romance writing and her projects.

If you’re local to Dallas-Ft. Worth, or just passing through, don’t forget to check out their local author series which brings talented writers from across the area to talk about stories, storytelling, and have a great time with writers, readers, fans, and families!

The Holocaust Engine is going back to Half Price Book-Dallas! Sept 29th from 1 to 3.

One of our favorite things is to meet fans and readers and talk about our series, our writing and the creative arts.

On Sept 29th, from 1p-3p, David Rike and I will be back at the Half Price Books flagship store in Dallas!

HPB Flagship

5803 E Northwest HWY
Dallas, TX 75231

This is one of our favorite places to talk about reading and find the inspiration that you can only find among the shelves and stacks. It’s also a great place to meet readers and fans and talk about our favorite fiction, including the Holocaust Engine. We will be selling and signing copies of The Holocaust Engine and Fluid Shock. The Audiobook of The Holocaust Engine is also available, so we’ll have cards to sign for those who prefer to listen to our story!

We’re bringing back “the Board of Destiny” and our fan-favorite participation battle, “Genre Fight”.

We hope to see you there!

The Audiobook of The Holocaust Engine is here!

The Audiobook of The Holocaust Engine is here!

David Rike and I are excited to announce the arrival of the audiobook from Evolved Publishing featuring the incredible vocal talents of Storm P. Browne, who brings our characters and Key West to life, just in time for us to tear it all apart.

It’s available here: https://books2read.com/THE-TheHolocaustEngine and across all your favorite formats, including Spotify, Apple Books Audio, Audiobooks.com, Barnes & Noble Audio, Chirp Audio, Downpour, Everand Audio, Google Audio, Hoopla Audio, Rakuten, and Libro.fm.

Special thanks to Lane Diamond for all his support, editing, and for bringing Storm into the world of The Holocaust Engine.

The Holocaust Engine is 4 years old today!

It’s hard to believe it has been 4 years since our series started. With the audiobook for Book 1 in production and Book 3 out for edits, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on how thankful David Rike and I are for this journey. It has taken us from Texas to Key West and back, with side trips to cons and signings and memorable times with our family, friends, fans, and strangers from all over the world.

A special thanks to Dave Lane and Evolved Publishing (https://evolvedpub.com/). He picked one of my early short stories for an anthology many moons ago and that push helped me get this far.

For those that haven’t jumped in, the water is still fine in our part of Key West, although things change a bit in Books 2 and 3. Book 1 is available on Amazon (link below) and at Evolved Publishing (https://evolvedpub.com/books/the-holocaust-engine/), where it is currently a “best price E-book”, meaning you can save 50% at https://evolvedpub.com/best-price-ebooks/the-holocaust-engine/.

Guest Interview with Stephen Patrick and David Rike – authors of The Holocaust Engine — by Tim Ward

Recently, Tim Ward and Evolved Publishing asked us about the story BEHIND The Holocaust Engine, “why Key West?”, and a few other deep dives about our series and our writing process.

That interview has been posted by Andy Peloquin and the great folks at FanFiAddict:

Guest Interview with Post-Apoc Author Stephen Patrick — by Tim Ward

This answers a lot of the questions we get at cons, signings and other appearances, and may give you some insights into our flavor of the writing craft!

The Holocaust Engine’s summer sale continues

As folks lean into their summertime reading lists, this may be the perfect time to add Book One of our trilogy, set in the paradise of Key West, particularly since the Kindle version is only 99cents.

Book Two, Fluid Shock, is also available at your favorite online retailers, and Book Three, Unda Sanguis, comes out this fall.

Soonercon 32, the Holocaust Engine goes to Oklahoma!

This past weekend, David and I has the privilege of attending our first SoonerCon in Norma, OK. It was an energetic and inspirational mix of authors, creators, cosplay, fans, family and friends, all wrapped in a sense of adventure open to all comers.

I stepped into my favorite moderator chair to put quite a few panelists through their paces and we both enjoyed talking about writing, genre, fiction, and everything that we love about cons and fandom. We added a pair of autograph sessions and meet-ups, sold some books, and met a ton of great people.

We will definitely keep Soonercon on our radar and hope to meet all of our new and old friends there next year!

Looking for a summertime horror read?

Today’s newsletter from Evolved Publishing highlights a special 99cent promo for three first-in-series horror titles including book one of The Holocaust Engine.

That’s perfect timing for anyone wanting to grab a story set at the beach (although the Key West of The Holocaust Engine might not be too relaxing) and get caught up on our series before book three comes out this Fall.

The other 99 cent series-starting titles include “The Green-eyed Monster” by Mike Robinson (Book 1 of Enigma of Twilight Falls) and “Whispers of the Dead” by C. L. Roberts Huth (Book 1 of the Zoe Delante Thrillers).
